Dakota battles a rare blood disorder that requires constant treatment, as well as multiple blood transfusions. Despite her daily struggle, Dakota remains a happy little girl, full of dreams and ambitions.
Growing up in a city, Dakota wasn’t able to have the pet she most desired: a horse. She longed to have fields and stables, filled with horses that she could ride and train. Surrounded by buildings and houses, she felt confined in a place where a horse would never be welcomed. Therefore, when it came time to make her wish, she knew that it needed to be something involving horses.
Dakota made her one true wish to have horse riding lessons. Not only would this give her the chance to get up close and personal with her favorite animal, but it has served as never-ending motivation for Dakota. She might not be able to own a horse of her very own, but she can now visit the horses and ride them when her heart desires, thanks to her wish! When Dakota rides, she’s able to forget about her pain and treatments for a little while and enjoy feeling like a normal kid again.
