Abbey, now nine-years old, was born with half of a heart. Having conquered three open heart surgeries and various hospital stays, Abbey needed some time to just be a kid. When Abbey visited the Wishing Place, there was no doubt in her mind that her ultimate wish was to go to Hawaii to swim with some "fishies".
Fast forward a few months later to June 26, a day that Abbey will never forget. Abbey thought she was just visiting her mom, Katie Beers, radio talk show host for The Wake Up Call on 106.5 The End, at work like any other day. Little did she know that her wish was about to be granted thanks to the support of JR Putman, her Adopt-A-Wish® sponsor.
As Abbey walked into the studio, she was in awe as it had been transformed into a Hawaiian paradise. She was slightly confused to see everyone wearing leis and grass skirts – especially Intern Kevin. That is when the magic happened: she found out, on air, that her wish to go to Hawaii was being granted thanks to the support of JR Putman!
But that wasn’t all, another surprise awaited Abbey - her very own luau was waiting for her outside! The fun continued as Abbey experienced private hula lessons and was the first in line to get her face painted. Thanks to JR Putman, this is just the beginning of Abbey's magical journey.
Abbey is now counting down the days until her and her family are soaking up the sun in paradise - oh and did we mention... she will be turning 10-years-old in the aloha state. You can watch Abbey's excitement from when she found out her wish is being granted by clicking here.
Thank you JR Putman for being Partners of Hope and making Abbey's wish come true!
