Wish Coordinator, Bi-Lingual (English & Spanish)
Job Summary

The Wish Coordinator is responsible for serving as Staff Lead in initial wish visits and managing a caseload of wishes (quantity to be determined annually).  The Wish Coordinator will ensure the timely delivery of high quality wishes for wish children and their families, while making the best use of Make-A-Wish resources. This position is based in our Sacramento office.

General Job Description

  • Conduct wish visits (as assigned) 
  • Oversee caseload of wishes including:  establish and manage budget, obtain Wish Clearance forms, arrange reservations for car rental and airline requests, complete Wish Assist requests, complete itinerary packets, complete data entry
  • Maintain regular communication with wish granting volunteers, families and fellow colleagues with regard to wish caseload
  • Seek in-kind donations for wishes
  • Close and reconcile wish files promptly, including documentation of cash and in-kind data, thank you letters and data entry
  • Comply with chapter guidelines and procedures
  • Comply with national performance standards for wish-granting
  • Share responsibility for 24-hour emergency cell phone 
  • Serve as liaison for Development teams for purposes of identifying Adopt-A-Wish children and Wish Ambassador families
  • Occasional participation in other activities (i.e. fundraising, volunteer, wish families and public wish reveals)
  • Train new Wish Team staff (as requested)
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor or Vice President of Mission Delivery

Qualifications:

To be successful, an individual must be able to perform each job duty satisfactorily.  Candidate will have a high level organizational, collaborative skills and the willingness to support productive team work.

Education and Experience

  • Possess a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in related field
  • 3-5 years of applicable work experience strongly desired

Skills:

  • Bi-lingual skills in English & Spanish required
  • Proficient in basic computer applications, such as word processing, spreadsheets, Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, Outlook and internet usage  
  • Possess organizational and project planning skills
  • Customer service skills 
  • Creative thinking skills 

Capabilities:

  • Ability to prioritize and cope with last-minute emergency situations
  • Multi-tasking – able to coordinate several projects at one time
  • Perform as a positive role model and collaborative team player
  • Ability to effectively manage a wide array of tasks, projects and responsibilities  
  • Ability to work productively in an unstructured environment with frequent interruptions

Time Commitments:

  • Full time, non-exempt employment status
  • Occasional evening or weekend events as needed
  • Regular travel within chapter territory required
