Kyle

kyle

Joseph and Kellie are raising Kyle in Ripon alongside his younger brother, Wyatt.  In September 2016, abnormal bleeding caused Kyle’s parents to rush him to the emergency room.  Doctors conducted a CT scan, and a mass was soon discovered on Kyle’s kidney.  He was transferred to Oakland Children’s Hospital, and three days later he underwent surgery to remove both the tumor and his entire kidney.  Two days later, after testing the tumor, Kyle was officially diagnosed with Wilm’s tumor.  He had a port inserted the next day and began chemotherapy treatment and radiation.  Kyle has not required any further hospital stays since his initial diagnosis, but he is scheduled to continue treatment until February.  Chemo makes Kyle very sick, and he requires more medications to help him with the symptoms.  He has lost a lot of weight and has trouble eating, but Kyle’s spirits are high and the promise of a wish made him very excited.

When Kyle had the chance to choose a wish, most of his ideas revolved around his passion for baseball.  Kyle considered wishing to be a baseball player, to meet Buster Posey, or to have baseball cards.  Kyle is an avid card collector, and even has rare cards that contain pieces of bats or jerseys.  One wish stood out above all the rest to Kyle: to watch the San Francisco Giants in their spring training.  Kyle dreamed of watching his favorite team prepare for the season because he said that it is the time in which they are most focused on the game.

Kyle's wish was revealed to him at our annual Wishmaker's Ball in Modesto, Ca. We told him that thanks to the support of Doctors Medical Center and Emanuel Medical Center, his wish is being granted!

Kyle's wish experience in Arizona at spring training was everything he could dream of and even more.  Kyle stepped out on the field with his heroes, collecting endless autographs and smiling for photos.  He sat in the dugout as each of his favorite players walked by, and his incredible joy was visible in his face.  During the times that treatment was taking a harsh toll on his body, Kyle was able to focus on his wish, and he will always remember the time that his heartfelt wish came true.
