“ That smile says it all. If a family needs that sense of hope, Make-A-Wish is it, especially for the child, ”

- Maline, DeLyla’s mother

Singer DeLyla never let her battle against cancer stop her from singing. Her passion for performing grew even bigger after receiving her red carpet wish of becoming a Pop-Star. DeLyla was surprised when the doorbell rang; waiting outside her home was her very own bodyguard and paparazzi surrounding the stretch limo that picked her up and whisked her away on a day she will always remember. DeLyLa and her entourage were taken to NOW 100.5 radio station where she was greeted like a true celebrity. She had an on-air interview, press conference, signed autographs and performed for the radio station staff. She was living her dream, but little did she know that there was a lot more to come.

“I want to thank you guys for making my wish come true.” –Wish Child DeLyla

After her radio experience, DeLyla was driven to Caesar Chavez Park where her doting fans with posters were cheering her name and eagerly awaiting her arrival. She was escorted onto stage where she gave a live performance that blew everyone away. DeLyla admitted that she was nervous, but like a true Pop-Star she rocked the stage. Once she performed, DeLyla was informed that she and her family will be flying to Hollywood where her wish of becoming a Pop-Star will become reality. DeLyla recorded a song at Red Bull Studios, had a professional make-over followed by a photo shoot and then a live interview with Maria Menounos on Extra.

DeLyla had a great time, and always has a huge smile when she talks about her wish come true. “That smile says it all. If a family needs that sense of hope, Make-A-Wish is it, especially for the child,” expressed DeLyla’s mom.

  • “The days leading up to our trip were filled with anticipation and excitement, however, it’s fair to say that the trip was more amazing than we ever envisioned and dreamed it could be. Seeing the joy on Dylan’s face when he first stood out on the balcony overlooking Atlantis will be captured in my mind and heart forever. Every fear, ache, pain, and worry disappeared. It was truly a week where your best dreams turned into reality. Our family grew closer and stronger. What we took away from this dream vacation was memories that will last a lifetime. Our family would have never had this opportunity if not for Make-A-Wish Maine and all the amazing staff and volunteers. These people will forever remain in our hearts and I could never thank them enough." 🐬 Read more: http://maine.wish.org/wishes/wish-stories/i-wish-to-go/dylan-higgins
