Volunteer Time and Talents

You can help make the wishes of children in our community come true when you become a Make-A-Wish® volunteer. Our mission is possible only with the dedication of our volunteers.

Volunteering is a great way to help. We invite you to share the power of a wish® whether you give a few hours each month or a few days each year.

More than 300 volunteers throughout our chapter support our mission, work in wish granting, special events, community relations, corporate fund raising, public speaking and other critical areas. Volunteers work in local communities by impacting the lives of individual Northeastern California and Northern Nevada children. Experienced volunteers and professional staff provide training and support for new volunteers.

"Seeing the hope and wonder in the kids’ eyes. No matter the situation, to see the children and their families dream of one perfect wish, something to bring a little happiness into a tough situation, is what makes every visit so special." - Volunteer Kory Ley, Stanislaus

"The motivation for becoming a volunteer for MAW was the generosity of a nonprofit organization that gave my family the best Christmas while my husband was fighting cancer. Their generosity during the most difficult time of our lives made a huge impact on me. My husband lost his battle to cancer, however because of my experience of bringing joy to my family in a very difficult time of our lives, I knew in my soul that I needed to give back to others in the same situation. Volunteering for MAW has allowed me this opportunity and I am forever grateful." - Volunteer Regina Johnson, Northern Nevada

"I began volunteering with Make-A-Wish in 2014. I've always enjoyed giving back to the community. What motivated me the most to volunteer with Make A Wish was the idea of helping children. Though other organizations need our help as well, kids are so young and haven't had the chance to make something of themselves. It is our duty to protect and care for them, and in doing so, these kids learn to progress and conquer their conditions. While we pay it forward to a younger generation, they come out the other side stronger, motivated, and selfless for the generation after." - Volunteer Ben Cox, Sacramento
