Message from an Intern

What it is like to intern at Make-A-Wish and why you should too!
We often hear about the children and families touched by the warmth and love of Make-A-Wish, but we rarely learn of the impact it has on an insider. For the past six months, I have interned at Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada in the Marketing & Communications department, and now that it is about to end, I can confidently say that this chapter has changed my life for the better. The magic of granting wishes for children with life-threatening medical conditions is a powerful source that permeates into every person it comes in contact with. Here’s how…

Becoming an intern at Make-A-Wish gives you the opportunity to discover personal strengths and contribute to a greater good. This organization is so involved with the wish kids and families that no matter what department you are in, you will feel the sense of care that the employees and volunteers put into their work. Sitting at your desk at the office, attending a wish reveal, joining in on a wish visit- these are just a few of the activities you do as an intern that will give you the opportunity to be a part of all the hard work that goes on behind the scenes. My favorite part of this internship has been getting to know the beautiful people who make these kids’ wishes a reality. Everyone is so welcoming and sincere!

These past six months have showed me what it must feel like to have a job that truly makes positive change for children and families in need of hope. Now more than ever, I have realized my passion to work at Make-A-Wish full-time one day.  Interning at this chapter was just a small taste of the transformational wish granting to get involved in, and it only gets better the longer you stay! Make-A-Wish will always have a special place in my heart, and it will capture yours as well. If you are interested in becoming an intern at this chapter, download and fill out an application here, then contact the Volunteer Department at ibyhagrre@arpnaai.jvfu.bet. You won’t regret it.
