Imagine a special, magical place where children can escape the rigors of treatment, transplants and never-ending tests. Imagine a place where fear is replaced by hope. Imagine a place where dreams can be discovered and wishes become reality. Imagine “The Wishing Place.”
Make-A-Wish® Northeastern California and Northern Nevada’s Wishing Place has made history and is only one of three in the nation - and the only one on the West Coast!!! Our vision for The Wishing Place has become a reality. It is for a building created especially for wish children. The magic begins the moment a child enters the front door. A “Galaxy of Stars” shines above with colored stars each commemorating a special wish child. The child then proceeds to “The Wishing Room” where wish decisions are made. Once that one true wish has been selected, a magical key opens the door to “The Wishing Tower” where the dream begins.
When that wish has been voiced, our Wish Coordinator magicians begin their work making the wish a reality. Soon a proclamation is sent to announce that the wish is ready, and the wish child and family and friends are invited to return to “The Wishing Place’s Celebration Hall” where the magic is unveiled.
So what is “The Wishing Place?” It is a place like no other. It’s a gathering place where the power of a wish transcends the limitations of a life-threatening condition. It’s an inspiring place where special children and their families are enriched by the joys of love and laughter. And finally, “The Wishing Place” gives wishes a place to call home.
Become a Part of History
You can be part of our beautiful new building by purchasing a commemorative brick, paver or star. By choosing to purchase a brick or paver, your message will be immortalized in the courtyard outside of the Celebration Hall. You can choose to honor a loved one or just write your own personal message. By purchasing a small or large star that hangs in the Wishing Tower, your name will be listed among this important group of donors. What better way to make a lasting impression than to be part of Make-A-Wish® history!
